I owe much of my love of speech and drama to Mrs. Bond.  I spent a lot of happy hours in her drama class.  Today I teach young people to art of public presentations and speech through the 4-H program and am a respected State Level judge at contests.  Speech and presentation are some of the most valuable skills a young person can learn and will serve them all of their lives, no matter what job they choose.   Thank you, Mrs. Bond, you imparting some of your knowledge and enthusiasm for the spoken word to me.

I've thought about you so many times over the last 40-plus years.  I've taken your "lessons" to heart and they've helped to make me the person that I am today.

You taught me so many things:

that it's not just okay to be different--it's imperative; that although humiliation makes one humble--to rise above embarrassment and to continue to grow is the key to success; there is more to a person than what shows on the outside and when we are willing to invest our resources (whatever they may be--time, energy, money, talent, ability, etc.) into others, we can realize the potential that lies in each person.

Success is measured one day at a time; yesterday's accomplishments don't guarantee future successes.  Validation by others may be encouraging, but it isn't necessary.

God bless you, Clara Bond.  You were an AWESOME teacher!
